Programs Director

Position Summary

Faith & Prejudice is an early-stage movement by and for Christians who are committed to confronting and dismantling systemic racism in America. We exist to equip and mobilize local churches for the work of advancing racial equity across the dimensions of education, criminal justice, economics and health. To achieve this, we are looking for a visionary Programs Director to help us build, expand and evolve a dynamic portfolio of programs for implementation through our local church partners and other strategic partners.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned program leader who is strategic, innovative, and has overseen high growth and scale. They will be creative and have extensive experience bringing both direct and indirect program ideas to life. They will be capable and enthusiastic about leading the organization in refining and evolving existing programs and developing a strategy to lead innovation of new community-based programs to drive racial equity at the local level.


They will have a demonstrable passion for the Faith & Prejudice mission, with education and meaningful work experience in the areas of Christian faith, racial justice, strategic partnerships or a related field. They will have a strong ability to articulate the organization’s unique value proposition while mapping programmatic interventions to outcomes. They will be a data-driven leader who is well-versed in driving impact through a distributed network.


As a key member of the executive leadership team, they will drive the overall program strategy for the organization and will serve as an external voice for the Faith & Prejudice mission in regards to our programmatic work. They will be a high-integrity leader whose values align with those of Faith & Prejudice and will have an ability to communicate a strong vision while also managing the day to day work of ensuring program objectives are carried out and reported to stakeholders.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The Programs Director will build a portfolio of programs by which our local church network can advance racial equity across education, health, criminal justice and economic disparities.  They will be responsible for developing and executing a highly strategic, innovative and collaborative plan to identify or build impact programs for implementation at the local level. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and will have the following duties among others:


  1. Leading the design, implementation and refinement of Faith & Prejudice’s programmatic strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational vision and goals. 

  2. Building and leading a volunteer programs team to continuously refine programming while ensuring all partners are carrying them out with fidelity and impact.

  3. Defining success goals and regularly tracking progress against these metrics in partnership with the Director of Strategic Partnerships and resetting strategy dynamically as needed.

  4. Playing a key role in organizational strategic planning to ensure alignment of program strategy with overall organizational goals.

  5. Collaborating with the Director of the Faith & Prejudice Institute to assess program effectiveness, improve performance, and drive future programming.

  6. Representing the organization and its programmatic work in funding conversations.

  7. Developing a work plan with program goals, timelines and opportunities.

  8. Work in a cross-functional environment, supporting and assisting in other areas of Faith & Prejudice where needed.

  9. Serve as a member of the Faith & Prejudice Leadership Team.

  1. Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor degree required.

  2. A minimum of 7 years experience in program development and management, preferably in the areas of criminal justice, education, health or economics with special experience in the area of racial equity. 

  3. Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, motivate and retain quality staff and volunteers as well as the ability to work effectively with an executive leadership team and Board of Directors.

  4. Proven track record of developing and managing high quality programs, program models, tools, and resources to increase program efficacy, and of leveraging data to drive continuous learning and program improvement

  5. A strategic thinker with demonstrated success in program innovation and experience in program evaluation.

  6. Strong commitment to equity and social justice with a demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to the communities served by Faith & Prejudice.

  7. Ability to understand, use and organize data to drive growth, enhance program quality, and demonstrate program effectiveness and impact.

  8. Demonstrated ability and experience developing and managing budgets and resource allocation to maximize available resources for highest and most effective use.

  9. Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills

  10. Demonstrated ability to form and maintain strong collaborative partnerships and to build consensus with colleagues and other strategic stakeholders
